A mountain as grueling as Everest is the last place you’d expect to encounter traffic. But with a single icy path to the mountain’s narrow summit and few days of clear weather to climb, there can be periodic rushes to make it to the top of the world. And under such treacherous conditions, not moving quickly enough can be fatal.

Four climbers were killed Saturday as they mounted the world’s highest summit, 29,035 feet (8,850 meters) above sea level. Favorable weather conditions led to a major scramble as 208 climbers attempted the trek to the top from the last high-altitude camp at 26,246 feet (8,000 meters) – more, it turned out, than the mountain could safey accommodate.

Here’s one way to make workouts more palatable: combine exercise with orgasm.

It sounds like a pornographic fitness flick: women, sweaty from physical exertion, climaxing at the gym. But researchers at Indiana University say it really happens — independent of sex or fantasies. They’ve even got a name for it: “coregasm,” named thusly because abdominal exercises tend to spark the sensation.

In a survey distributed via the Internet, researchers asked women if they’d ever experienced exercise-induced orgasms (EIO) — 124 responded yes — or exercise-induced sexual pleasure (EISP); 246 had. Women were questioned about the types of exercises in which they were engaged at the time of orgasm, if the phenomenon happened repeatedly and whether they could control it, among other things.

Since there’s next to no scientific literature about orgasm while exercising, researchers prompted survey respondents to provide as much detail as possible. They learned quite a bit, according…

The inability to last a few hours without a Blackberry or iPhone is now the number-one reason for bad passenger behavior when flying the not-so-friendly skies.

Incidents of customer misconduct increased for the third year in a row, reaching more than 1,300 in 2011, the Wall Street Journalreports. Flight attendants say the refusal to turn off electronic devices are the top cause. The behavior got a celebrity spokesperson during “planegate” in December 2011 when Alec Baldwin got into an altercation with American Airlines staff over his refusal to end a game of Words With Friends. The actor later apologized.

So Apple held this quiet, off-the-radar shindig yesterday where they invited a few people to a tiny little iPad-related event in San Francisco, maybe you heard about it… Oh who am I kidding, you’ve probably already placed your preorder for “The new iPad” (lowercase ‘n’), as Apple officially touted it during their latest event-that-nearly-crashed-the-Internet. The new iPad is “resolutionary,” boasts the company’s website, and according to Apple executives, it has a “magical pane of glass.” If you didn’t know better, you’d think Cupertino just launched a new Harry Potter book.

But do you really need one of these “new” iPads? Maybe. They’re certainly attractive with the screen resolution doubled, all the lovely new high-res games and apps, and of course, 4G LTE support. But just in case you’re not feeling any of that “magical” love, here’s an unimpeachable haters checklist.
